Sometimes our lives can seem like random piles of small spilled puzzle pieces. Nothing fits together, nothing makes sense. There’s no box with picture to clue in the finished product. We are lost and confused.
With a safe space and cooperative work, the pieces begin to coalesce like a complicated but congruent painting.
Then when the sessions are completed you can continue the process because you have discovered some core patterns and old injuries are healing. And now you have more tools, the ones we have used in our counseling relationship.
So many theories, so very many ideas. So many diagnoses, and so many techniques. Psychoanalysis, dialectical behavior therapy, rational emotive therapy, cognitive therapy, gestalt therapy, Rogerian client-centered therapy, Jungian psychology, inner healing, couples counseling, family genograms, interpersonal psychotherapy, drama therapy, and healing through art and music.
These and other modes may be used in sessions, but the value of our time together is much more than psychology can pinpoint. It is in discovering the mysterious and infinitely rich possibilities to be found in your relationships. Even the pain can contain redemptive sparks.
The process of healing is lifelong for us all, and always in therapy it is a cooperative effort between us.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. That we can connect with our own heart, with one another and with our Creator is life’s great miracle.
